Wilfred

Wilfred loves writing and the deliciousness of the spoken word in all its varied and beautiful forms. He delights in music and loves to sing the lyrics of songs he`s never heard before!

He has written a memoir, the first of three volumes, called Black Gay & Underage, as well as being published in several anthologies including the Australian LGBTIQ Multicultural Council`s, Living and Loving in Diversity, Sydney School of Arts and Humanities, Short Stories, Live Poets @Don Bank, Presence and his poems are in the Chapbook, A View from Pitt Street and an edition of the Positive Word publication.

He has performed at spoken word\poetry events such as Sydney Writers Festival, Thomas Keneally Centre, Don Bank and Red Rattler.

He has written and performed his own one man shows at various fringe festivals around Australia. He has acted on stage and in digital theatre productions.

He co-produced a 10-day poetry and prose festival ``Unspoken Words`` in 2018. He`s made an appearance at Queer Stories, with his story, Forgive and Forget, and Sydney Writers Festival.

He`s facilitated professional writers’ workshops and events.

Gabrielle Journey

Gabrielle Journey Jones is an award-winning performance poet born on sovereign Gadigal Land, Sydney, Australia. She is from Maori and African American bloodlines and has lived in Bega Valley on Yuin Country with her family since 2018. Gabrielle’s poetry is available in three collections published by Ginninderra Press - Spoken Medicine (2017); Etymology of Courage (2021) and The Purpose of Truth (2023).

Gabrielle has shared her poetry at local, national and international events for over 25 years. Gabrielle is inspired by creative communities which celebrate diversity, activism and inclusion. She encourages everyone to speak their own medicine by sharing their truth and stories in whatever ways feel healing, authentic and most useful.

Gabrielle has contributed to a range of exciting Australian poetry anthologies in recent years. She has established and collaborated on creative projects for individual and community empowerment, two highlights being ongoing initiatives through Creative Womyn Down Under (since 2006) and Poetic Percussion (since 2018).

Gabrielle loves a hearty Poets Breakfast, folk festivals, running spoken word and “Soapbox Skills” workshops; vibing on stage co-creating soundscapes for her poetry with electric bass guitar with singer/ songwriter Kerrin Dow from their Far South Coast NSW band “Anam Mana”.
